Duck Creek 300km
After a short 2 day recovery from the recent ride from Rathdowney to Tenterfield (and return), I will be having a 'crack' at the inaugural Duck Creek 300 Audax ride this Saturday. Seeing that nobody else in the Audax world has put their hand up and even the ride organiser himself has pulled the pin after Tues/Wednesdays smash fest, it looks like I'm it!!
Anyways, if you don't feel like racing and can't be bothered with housework, why don't you come and join me?
All you need is a bike, and legs capable of mashin' out some 20% climbs on dirt roads and a WHOLE heap of time on your hands!
Starts at 5am at Rathdowney Showgrounds and heads east, and up, and down, and then up again, then keep repeating until someone tells you to stop. Expected finish time (if that happens), is between 10pm Sat and 1am Sun morning.
1am being the official cut off time. For a 300km Audax ride its 20hrs.
As the name suggests, it is 300kms with at least 4000mts of ascent (that could easily be close to 5000 given that BikeRouteToaster is renowned for underestimating elevation gain)
I won't hold it against you if you don't share my somewhat weird concept of how to fill in a Saturday, but will let you know how it goes.

Not sure about Superman stuff Bruce, though, if I did get through this ride I think I would be entitled to wear my underpants on the OUTSIDE!!BruceG wrote:That's superman stuff Phil. I presume you have a mechanically super bike as well.
If these storms come through that some are predicting over the weekend, it might get a bit messy!!

Weather looks like it might clear by tomorrow Phil.
Good luck with it.
I'm looking forward to a fiery race tomorrow, hopefully on a dry track.

Looks like Phil terminated the ride at Kyogle due to storms about 1.5 hrs ago.
I estimate that at roughly 230km. Bloody brilliant effort considering there's been lots of rain.
Don't know if he changed from a mtb to a roadie, but fantastic if all on a mtb.
I am doing Canungra Binna Burra loop in the morning if there's anything less than rain and lightening.
