Weekend Rides - 23rd and 24th February

Hi Group



Great turnout last Sunday 17th February – I believe there were around 18 riders going to Scarborough and 5 riders went up to Mt Nebo. Excellent outcome!



This weeks rides:



SATURDAY 23RD FEBRUARY – meeting at the Cannon in Nundah 5:30am for racing at Lakeside. Or jump on the ride out there via Gympie Road.



SUNDAY 24TH FEBRUARY – regular Scarborough ride meeting at the cannon 6am. A Second ride route, depending on weather, Samford, Eatons Crossing, Clear Mountain back to Redcliffe and on to Nundah – approx 90km starting at 6am at the cannon.

Ascot Catering

Weather permitting (will have to wait for tonights BOM forecast), this is what I propose for tomorrows 'Lumpy' ride, leaving from the gun instead of the usual Wests Rugby departure point.

The way we go into town and back out at the end is flexible.
I reckon a 5am start at the gun. It's 134km, so bring adequate drinks, spares and cash.

If thinking of doing the ride, check on here between 4.15 and 4.30 in the morning to see if it's on.
Based on where the clouds are now, it looks like they might be here early tomorrow.

I'm not doing Glorious from Samford if the road is wet.

It doesnt look too bad, but on the radar there is one ugly looking cloud just out from redcliffe at the moment.
Besides GD, are there any other starters?

Just looking at the Radar, its pretty much clear except for one cloud that looks like its going smash is in bout 30-60mins. what do you think mate?

If its only you and me, do you want to leave it till 6 and make a call then?

That cloud around 6 that smashed Redcliffe was gone by the time we got up there. didn't get rained on at all, but still soaked from the humidity.

GD and I headed out through Rode Rd, Collins, Bunya Rd then left on Mailmans track. Out through Samford and over to Dayboro for a coffee and a feed before a very unenjoyable drag up Mt Mee (well, it was for me anyway, glad we didn't do the Lumpy 100).
Some days you start out feeling like shit and it improves as the ride goes on, but today, wasn't one of those!
We were pretty lucky with the rain except for heavy shower that felt like hail just out of Dayboro on the way back.
Not being too keen on going over the hill to Ferny Grove on what was a busy road at this time of the day, we went left on to Mailmans and on to Bunya Rd to retrace our steps.
You also wouldn't think those 'gentle' rollies along Rode Rd would be SO tough on the way back!! But they were.
All up was a 115km'er with 1750mts of gain.

Those figures don't seem anything special to look at but by the way I'm feeling right now, it feels like I've run a marathon.

Oh well, doesn't look like we'll be doing much for the next few days so.. recovery time.

I deff think this ride is actually harder than the lumpy 100, well was today. We kept a pretty decent pace most of the way, specially since there was only 2 of us.
