The ICRHAD thread
So. While we're on the topic of hills,
any more takers for the 'Both sides of Glorious' ride on Wednesday?
It looks like a cracker weather forecast and you'd be mad not to get out in the great outdoors and enjoy a bit of pain and suffering.
Seeing I've put it so nicely, I assume there will be heaps of takers.
6am at the popgun, GD is 'group leader'.

I'll be mending saddle sores, and cross training....all day!
Seriously though, I've got a big lunch on, which you are welcome to after the ride 180, if you don't get a better offer.

Re: The ICRHAD thread
frikkin brilliant boyz. would be interested in a run down on Glorious backside. Do you think mere mortals can do it? without stopping? or thongs, or defribrillator?
as Phil said today, makes Andy Patten even more the legend for doing front, 100km road race, then the back!

Of course you can do it. Don't worry about thongs, or about stopping.
The sooner people get out there and have a go instead of offering reasons why they CAN'T do it the better!
GD did it on his 39 x 27 set-up, (amazing effort btw)
As long as you have the right gearing, there is no reason why you can't do this ride. The scenery out the back there is fantastic, certainly beats the 'red light dash' anyway.
And when I say 'right' gearing, probably a compact with a 27 or 28 is the go. And before anyone thinks their manhood is diminished by having a compact, I would argue that unless an individual can 'push', ie spin out a 53 x 11 gear, then it's pointless having it on your bike.
Just for the record, I've won crit races on a compact, so go figure!
