A warm up ride before Elimbah RR.
Well, what a weekend of riding that was. There were some good km's put out by some of the lads this Easter and why stop there.
A couple of possible routes that we spoke about this morning over coffee up around Maleny/Kenilworth way for next Saturday follow. Both can be adjusted as far as distance or hills are concerned.
I only suggest Saturday 14th because the Elimbah road race(HPRW) is on at 1pm and if timed right, we could call in and support or race, if the legs are up to it.

As you will see, they both start and finish at Beerwah, easy to park, shops available. Car sharing/lifts can be arranged.
The second one avoids most of the traffic across the top of the Montville range, but adds 9kms and a couple of metres elevation.
Weather permitting, I will do one of these loops anyway and I dare say Tina and maybe a couple of others may join me, so if you're interested, let us know.

Good thinking with the Mooloolah Valley alternative Phil.
I don't have a preference either way.
Maybe you could shoot Mel an email. She may have some Sunny Coast riders who are interested.

Do I know Mel?
Can't think who you are talking about.
BTW, Tina is in for next Saturday.

Actually, the ride would more than likely be too long for Mel, but she is from the Sunny Coast and rides up there mostly.
Thought she might know some locals who were interested. But then, maybe it'd get complicated.
I thought of her because she has suggested several times the AC group come up and camp at her place a number of times, and she'd show us some Coast rides. Plus, she lived at Maleny for years and rode the hinterland lots.

I am thinking of catching the train up the caboolture, racing and then riding home via Redcliffe (through D-bay and along Anzac Ave, then over hornibrook bridge). Yes, I am looking forward to tackling the train station in my cycling shoes.
If anyone is driving up I would really appreciate it if they could drive my race wheels up there for me.
p.s. the weather ain't looking that good for next Saturday

Hello Peter,
I have found your post referred to in my email. I will be driving up to Elimbah so will be happy to take your race wheels and other kit up if you wish. You won't have to worry about the train as I have done it and it only cost me $2.40 each way! I think you have to leave from Northgate station. But be careful that you don't have to change trains at Caboolture. Sometimes you do so just check.

Okay, anyone wanting to join us on the previously mentioned loop from Beerwah this Saturday?
Going to do the 144km one which comes down the range from Montville(Razorback/Hunchy Rd) to miss the faster traffic across the top of the range. There will be re-groups, so no need to stress. Bruce, if you are keen, I can give you a lift if you wish.
I'd probably recommend a 6am start if others are happy with that. Can start earlier if you wish.
The HPRW Elimbah RR isn't starting until 1:30, so if it works out we could call in on the way back.
Let me know if you're keen.

Re: A warm up ride before Elimbah RR.
Hey Phil. I am still keen to do that route, just as I'd like to do Glorious Wivenhoe Ipswich.
However, I've been feeling a bit flat after the 4x100s over Easter, and a little buggy. If I feel a respiratory tract infection worsening tomorrow, I won't ride. will report in tomorrow night. Sorry to mess you around, but realize there's some challenging bits on the route, and that I'd slow Tina and you down even on a good day.
Otherwise, I'm happy to drive up myself for a 6am start. Can you clarify the meeting point?

Nice one Steve, you should come along tomorrow seeing you're so 'fresh'.
I think we are heading out through some hills. Exact route to be decided.
