Tamborine, Binna Burra ride.
Got this ride planned for this weekend coming, 25th or 26th, whichever suits most people.
Its about 100km and contains 3 climbs, or 2 if we bypass Tamborine(Goat Track) on the way back depending on how we feel. The distance is still roughly the same if we came back along the Mundoolun Connection Rd, it will just have about 600mts less elevation.
I took out the part going up to the llama farm on O'Reillys as there is a pretty good cafe at the top of Binna Burra, with good views.
Car pooling could be sorted out as well, and we'd probably look at starting at Tamborine Village at 6am.
Who's interested?
Any Q's, fire away.

Re: Tamborine, Binna Burra ride.
Hey Phil.
Just thinking out loud, bu do you think, considering Canungra to Binna Burra is the more demanding challenge, that we start from Canungra and do BB first, and then seeing how everyone is feeling, do Tamborine second? And although boring, go down Tamb the same way we go up so as to avoid riding on busy Beaudesert Beenleigh Rd?
Thinking out loud x2, I suppose the other option is that those who want a shorter ride could drive to Canungra, and join earlier Tamborine starters, to head up to BB together. The way I am feeling at the moment, coming back from up north 4kg lighter, a shorter ride might be in order for me for a few weeks.

Yeah, that could work Bruce. Park at Canungra and have the option of BB then Goat Track after it if feeling invincible!!
Or, we'll see who's keen before the weekend and maybe ride from Tamb Village and meet others at Canungra.
I guess we should get a commitment from possible starters.... Pedro, Dahlpad, MarkS, GeemacD, Grant?
And what about the hill climbing endurance man, Mr Frost? WILL he be a starter?

more likely Scarborough will beckon.
My pref would be a Canungra start and straight to BB, followed by a Tamborine option.
Though don't know if there's an easy way up Tamb apart from Beadesert Beenleigh Rd. I remember the Goat Track was pretty steep, but probably not un-doable due to its shortishness. Anyway, Sunday would be my preference, though open to Sat.

I'm happy with that. We'll wait and see if anyone else is interested.
Doesn't matter to me if it's Saturday or Sunday either.
I'll probably go down there anyway if noone else does.

Haven't been on the bike for 2 weeks, but should cope with Canungra-BB, and will join you even if it's just the two of us Phil.
Weather forecast is favorable.
Didn't see Ashley today, but hopefully the 3C's (chinese carbon clinchers) will be ready.
If it's you and me, happy to share costs if you take your car, though mine can fit two bikes with both wheels off.

Yes G, definately back by mid afternoon if starting at 6am, and would probably get BB and Tamborine in in that time.
I'll remap it and put it up shortly.
Mate, you're gonna have to toss that cassette you've got on at the moment. I've got an 11-28 (brand new in box), if you want it.

It's only 80kms with about 2000mts so should be done by lunchtime including coffee. BRT says 1500mts but it is usually a bit more.

Re: Tamborine, Binna Burra ride.
Okay,
Saturday it is. 6.30am in the main st of Canungra. Got a couple more starters and had to pick a day so I've made a decision.
Who's in?
I reckon even after doing Binna Burra(with coffee at top), and Tamborine, we would still be back in Brisbane well before mid afternoon.
Hang on, does that mean we have enough time to do a Henri Robert Drive loop?

Re: Tamborine, Binna Burra ride.
Do you want to share ride Phil? Even if I don't do Tambo, am happy to hang out in Canungra and buy drugs from bikies, until you get back.
I'm presuming I'll be slower than the others you mentioned this arvo, so am happy to get dropped on the BB ascent and descent. I drove the route on Anzac Day and feel comfortable with it.
Presume you mean to come DOWN Henri Roberts!

Tamborine, Binna Burra ride
Looks like I'm going to have to miss this weekend 180. It's just not going to work logistically for us.
I do look forward to doing this ride with you guys soon though.
Cheers,
G
And thanks 180 for your offer of the 11-28 too!

Re: Tamborine, Binna Burra ride.
Okay, last chance to put your hand up for a very scenic, slightly challenging yet very rewarding ride tomorrow morning starting in the main street in Canungra..... http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=451767
So far we have 5, with a possible 7 starters. The coffee and snack at the Binna Burra cafe will have one of the best views in SE QLD and the descent will be, well, whatever you make it!
Hoping for some late starters considering there is no racing locally this weekend.
6.30am start at Canungra.
